No prior experience is needed and after completing some theory work, a shallow training dive, and 4 Open Water dives around Koh Tao you will be a certified scuba diver.

Your Open Water Course will be conducted by an experienced, friendly, and professional diving instructor in a group of no more than 4 divers to 1 instructor. Our small groups and top-of-the-line diving equipment mean that you will be diving in safety and comfort, always.  
The Open Water Diver certification will allow you to dive up to 18 meters at any dive school worldwide or with another certified buddy and last a lifetime.  During the Open Water course, you will visit a variety of the best dive sites Koh Tao has to offer & dive with lots of beautiful corals and marine life.

Open Water Course prerequisites.

In order to take this course you will need to be -

  • Age: 10 and over

  • Ability to swim 200m un-aided & tread water for 10 minutes

  • Good physical health (Those with known medical conditions may need written approval from a dive medic)

The best Koh Tao diving course

I undertook my open water diving certificate here. The vibe at Phoenix was unreal, and the fun didn't stop at diving! Our instructor was an awesome guy, who took pride in teaching us everything we needed to know in order to have the best diving experience whilst maintaining safety and professionalism the whole time. He spent the extra time to make sure we were all comfortable and happy throughout our whole course and ensured my whole diving experience on Koh Tao was an absolute blast. .
