Wreck diving at the HTMS Sattakut, Koh Tao
The HTMS Sattakut is definitely one of our favourite dive sites on Koh Tao, it was sunk on purpose in 2011 after being de-commissioned by the Thai Navy and is now one of the highlights of the Advanced course and home to an abundance of marine life. The captains cabin is the tallest part of the wreck that sits at around 18/19 meters and goes all the way down to 30m. Because of this the wreck is only accessible if you are an Advanced diver already or if you are doing your advanced course whilst on Koh Tao.
The HTMS Sattakut is located just 15-20 minutes away from our Dive Center on Sairee Beach and is conveniently located next to two more of our favourite dive sites White Rock & Hin Pee Wee.
Why we love the HTMS Sattakut
The wreck offers something completely different from any of the other dive sites here on Koh Tao. Most dive sites here are beautiful coral reefs but the HTMS Sattakut shakes it up a bit and will leave you begging for more. Diving at the wreck always gives you an awesome feeling as you descend down to the depths where the huge boat lies, the HTMS Sattakut can be accessed all year round and visibility is normally between 10-20 meters.
Getting your Advanced certification to 30m
This dive site can’t be accessed as an Open Water Diver. You will need to go down to at least 25 meters to fully enjoy this dive site and the 18 meters the Open Water certification allows you to dive to just isn’t enough. Fear not, we offer Advanced courses here at Phoenix Divers or Fun Dive trips if you’re already an Advanced diver.
